Press Release

LaRouche: Obama's Targeting of Mubarak
Will Blow Up the Region

February 2011

February 1, 2011 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee.

Agência Brasil

Hosni Mubarak.

Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr.

Lyndon LaRouche today used the strongest possible language to denounce President Obama's insane decision to throw Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to the wolves.

LaRouche warned:

"If Mubarak goes, there is no plan for any kind of functioning government, to replace him. This could very well set off a chain reaction that will blow up the entire region. The destabilization of Egypt, unleashed by the ouster of President Mubarak, will soon engulf most of the states of North Africa and the Middle East, with spreading effects into Greece."

LaRouche, in stark contrast to President Obama's reckless action, said that President Mubarak

"had already taken some important steps to redress some of the problems and create the conditions for a return to stability. The military is playing a positive and crucial role, but that all depends on President Mubarak being given the breathing room to see this situation through. If President Mubarak is forced out at this time, there is no guarantee that the military will be able to hold things together. This action by President Obama is madness. By ousting President Mubarak at this time, you are destabilizing Egypt. The move to dump President Mubarak is a disgusting and incompetent action. Is has the name Obama written all over it."

In a live interview on Russia Today television on Jan. 31 (LaRouche interview is the last item on this Russia Today webpage), LaRouche clearly spelled out the actual parameters of the crisis, and addressed the specific situation in Egypt from that larger standpoint:

"We're at the tail-end of a general breakdown crisis of the current international monetary-financial system, and also the physical-economic system, as a result.

"What's coming from the British, who are controlling a good 70% of the world's banking, and what's coming out of the United States, under the current President, is not doing anything to solve this problem, but making it worse.... Egypt is not the guilty party here. The situation is desperate throughout the Maghreb, and through the Middle East: insecurity, collapse, economic breakdown, everything is there! So you have a breakdown crisis in process. Then you have the people who are playing it, and you have some people who are patriotic, and I think at the present time, the Egyptian government is playing a very crafty role, in trying to live out the storm, in hopes of coming back to some kind of stability. The problem the Egyptian government has, is that the economic crisis does not give it, or any other nation right now, much of an option for stabilizing their situation."

"But the President of the United States, who is nothing but a British puppet, with some mental problems, is actually making the crisis worse."

LaRouche issued this pointed warning about Obama before the public announcement today that the President had sent a personal emissary, former Ambassador Frank Wisner, to Cairo to deliver a personal message to President Mubarak that he should announce that he will not seek re-election in September. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, delivered the same message, on behalf of Obama, in a New York Times op-ed today, and in an interview on National Public Radio.

LaRouche concluded:

"This was all Obama's doing. I fear this is going to cause a needless disaster. Will people finally wake up and realize that I am serious when I say that President Obama must be removed from office, immediately, under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment?"
